Boot Time defragmentation
Boot-time defragmentation is the only Microsoft® recommended way to safely defragment the MFT and paging files in Windows NT® and Windows 2000. It will also defragment the paging files in Windows XP. Boot-time defragmentation is only available on Windows NT/2000/XP versions of Diskeeper and it is extremely fast, so fast that it is often done without unduly lengthening the time it takes to boot up.

It is important to keep these files defragmented for two reasons. When they are scattered all over the disk and cannot be touched during online defrag operations, they become a barrier to normal defragmentation of regular files. They are also very frequently used and when highly fragmented will impact performance considerably.

Diskeeper defragments and consolidates these files quickly and safely for the most complete level of defragmentation possible.
